is a British television science fiction drama serial first made and broadcast by the BBC in seven parts in 1961. Written by cosmologist Fred Hoyle, in conjunction with author and television producer John Elliot.
As was common practice at the time, the BBC's copies of the serial were junked after broadcast and the bulk of the serial still remains missing.
The first video: A for Andromeda was reconstructed using 'tele-snaps' with on-screen captions to describe the plot set to a soundtrack of music from the serial.
'Tele-snaps' are photographs taken from the broadcast of A for Andromeda by John Cura, and for most of the serial are the only visual record of the story.
The images are presented with explanatory captions and where film material exists, this has been placed in sequence.

The second video: A for Andromeda is a 2006, 'made for TV' film remake of the 1961 TV series of the same name by Fred Hoyle and John Elliot. Starring Tom Hardy.
